Arjan meaning
Arjan (ਅਰਜਨ) is a Sikh boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Punjabi usage).
Bright, white, pure; the name of Guru Arjan, the fifth Sikh Guru
Arjan (ਅਰਜਨ) is the Punjabi form of Sanskrit arjuna. The Mahan Kosh of Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha lists white, bright and pure among its senses, together with the Arjun tree, the Pandava hero Arjuna and the god Indra. For Sikhs the name belongs above all to Guru Arjan (1563–1606), the fifth Guru, who compiled the Adi Granth in 1604, oversaw the building of the Harmandir Sahib at Amritsar and became the first Sikh martyr, at Lahore in 1606. The Var of Balwand and Satta in the Guru Granth Sahib speaks of Arjan seated on the Guru's throne (Ang 968). Name lists give Arjan as "bright" or "shining", in line with the dictionary. Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh also carried the name.
