Simranjeet meaning
Simranjeet (ਸਿਮਰਨਜੀਤ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin, used for both girls and boys.
Simran (remembrance of God) joined with jīt (victory)
Simranjeet (ਸਿਮਰਨਜੀਤ) joins simran and jīt. Simran comes from Sanskrit smaraṇa, and the Mahan Kosh gives it as remembrance and, in Gurbani, the one-pointed remembrance of the divine Name. Jīt is victory or conquest, which the Mahan Kosh equates with fateh. Both words occur in the Guru Granth Sahib, simran at Ang 189 and jīt at Ang 180. Together the name means "victory of remembrance", and name lists word it as "one who is victorious in remembrance". The compound is a modern name used in Sikh and Punjabi families for both girls and boys, and is also spelled Simranjit. The hockey player Simranjeet Singh won bronze with India at the Tokyo Olympics.
