Harjeet meaning
Harjeet (ਹਰਜੀਤ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin, used for both girls and boys.
Jīt, victory, of or through Hari, God
Also used to mean: victorious through God's grace
Harjeet (ਹਰਜੀਤ), also spelled Harjit, joins har(i), God, with jīt, victory. The Mahan Kosh glosses jīt simply as victory, and the word appears in the Guru Granth Sahib, for example on Ang 180. In the Japji, Guru Nanak links victory to the inner life: conquer the mind and you conquer the world (Ang 6). Name lists render Harjeet as God's victory or as one who is victorious through God's grace. It is given to boys and to girls. A well-known bearer is the Canadian politician Harjit Sajjan, a former minister of national defence.
