Harsimrat meaning
Harsimrat (ਹਰਸਿਮਰਤ) is a Sikh girl's name of Punjabi origin.
Simrat, remembering or remembrance, of Hari, God
Harsimrat (ਹਰਸਿਮਰਤ) joins har(i), God, with simrat, remembering. The word comes from the same root as Sanskrit smṛti, which the Mahan Kosh gives first as memory and remembrance. The exact phrase ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ, remembering God, recurs in Guru Arjan's hymns in the Guru Granth Sahib; on Ang 178 he says that by remembering God, Nanak has found peace. Name lists give Harsimrat as remembering God. It is a close cousin of Harsimran and is used mainly for girls; a well-known bearer is the politician Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
