Arshdeep meaning
Arshdeep (ਅਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin, used for both girls and boys.
Arsh (God's throne, the heavens) joined with dīp (lamp)
Also used to mean: divine light
Arshdeep (ਅਰਸ਼ਦੀਪ) joins two words from different languages, as many Sikh names do. Arsh is the Arabic ʿarsh, which Lane's Lexicon gives as a king's throne and the throne of God, and also as a roof and as sovereignty. The Guru Granth Sahib uses it for the heavens, speaking of light from the heavens (ਨੂਰੁ ਅਰਸਹੁ ਕੁਰਸਹੁ, Ang 967). Dīp is a lamp, from Sanskrit dīpa, and is also found in the scripture (Ang 57). Together the name means "lamp of the heavens". Name lists usually give it as "divine light", a loose but fair rendering of its parts. It is a modern compound, used for boys and girls with Singh or Kaur; a well-known bearer is the India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.
