Arshi meaning
Arshi (عرشی) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Persian and Urdu usage).
Heavenly, celestial; of the Throne (from ʿarsh)
Arshi comes from Arabic ʿarsh, 'throne', with the adjective ending -ī. Steingass's Persian dictionary, which records the word as Persian and Urdu writers used it, defines ʿarsh as a throne or chair of state, and especially the Throne of God and the highest heaven, and gives ʿarshī as 'heavenly, celestial'. The Throne is a frequent image in the Quran, where God is called 'Lord of the mighty Throne' (9:129), so the name carries a sense of the heavens rather than of earthly royalty. Baby-name lists give 'of the throne' or 'heavenly', which match the dictionary. In India and Pakistan Arshi is mostly a girl's name, though it is also given to boys.
