Sohaila meaning
Sohaila (سہیلہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Feminine of Suhayl, the star Canopus; Suhayl is also the diminutive of sahl, 'smooth, easy'
Also used to mean: gentle
Sohaila (سہیلہ) is the feminine of Suhayl, from the root s-h-l. Lane's lexicon gives suhayl as Canopus, the bright southern star seen across Arabia but not in the far north, whose rising was said to ripen the fruit and end the great heat. In form suhayl is the diminutive of sahl, which Lane defines as smooth, soft or level, and easy; a man who is sahl al-khuluq has an easy, gentle nature. That is why name lists give Sohaila both as "star" and as "gentle" or "easy". The masculine form is Sohail.
