Farishta meaning
Farishta (فرشتہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin (Urdu usage).
An angel; a messenger
Also used to mean: divine being
Farishta (فرشتہ) is the Persian firishta, "an angel", which in Urdu is the everyday word for an angel. Steingass's Persian dictionary also gives a messenger or apostle, and compounds such as firishta-wash, "like an angel", and firishta-sīrat, "of angelic character". The word is not Arabic, and some Islamic advice sites prefer other names for that reason, though they do not forbid it. Name lists give Farishta simply as "angel". The word is best known in India as the name of Firishta (c. 1570–1620), the historian of the Deccan sultanates. In Iran the name is Fereshteh.
