Hafiza meaning
Hafiza (حافظہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Keeping, guarding; one who knows the Quran by heart (feminine)
Also used to mean: guardian, protector, one who memorises the Quran
Hafiza (حافظہ) is the feminine of Arabic ḥāfiẓ, from the root ḥ-f-ẓ, "to keep or guard". Lane's lexicon defines ḥāfiẓ as one who keeps, preserves or guards something, one entrusted with a thing, and one who holds the Quran in memory. In India and Pakistan a woman who has learned the whole Quran by heart is respectfully called a hafiza. Name lists give "guardian" or "protector", and some add the Quranic sense. In everyday Urdu the same word, ḥāfiẓa, also means memory.
