Shirin meaning
Shirin (شیریں) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin.
Sweet, pleasant; gentle, gracious; also the name of Farhād's beloved
Also used to mean: charming
Shirin (شیریں) is the Persian shīrīn, "sweet". Steingass's Persian dictionary gives it as sweet, pleasant, gentle and gracious, and lists many compounds, such as shīrīn-zabān, "sweet-spoken", and shīrīn-tabassum, "with a sweet smile". It also records Shīrīn as the beloved of Farhād: in Persian romance, above all Nizami's Khusraw and Shirin, she is a princess loved by King Khusraw and by Farhad, the sculptor who carved through a mountain for her. In Urdu, shīrīn is the everyday word for sweet. Name lists give Shirin as "sweet".
