Shifa meaning
Shifa (شفا) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Healing, cure; restoration to health
Shifa (شفا) is Arabic shifāʾ, from shafā, which Lane's Lexicon explains as bringing about recovery, or restoration to health. The word occurs in the Quran in 10:57, which calls the revelation a healing for what is in the hearts, and again in 17:82. Name lists today give the same meaning, "healing" or "cure". An early bearer was al-Shifāʾ bint ʿAbd Allāh of the Quraysh, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad whose given name was Laylā; al-Shifāʾ was the by-name she was known by, usually linked with her practice of healing. She is remembered as one of the few people in Mecca who could read and write, and as a teacher of Ḥafṣa bint ʿUmar.
