Shilpi meaning
Shilpi (शिल्पी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
An artist, artisan, craftsman; skilled in art
Also used to mean: sculptor
Shilpi (शिल्पी) is the Sanskrit śilpī, the nominative form of śilpin, from śilpa, "art, craft". Monier-Williams gives the adjective as "belonging to or skilled in art" and the noun as an artificer, artisan, craftsman or artist; the old law books and the Mahābhārata use it for the makers of temples, images and fine goods. The classical feminine is śilpinī, "a female artisan or artist". Name lists give Shilpi as "artist", "artisan" or "sculptor", the dictionary meaning. The word is grammatically masculine, but as a name it is used for girls, especially in Bengal and Bihar, alongside the related Shilpa.
