Shivika (शिविका) is explained on name lists as "one who belongs to Shiva" or as a name of Durgā, reading it as a diminutive of Śiva. In the Sanskrit dictionary, however, Monier-Williams gives śivikā only as another spelling of śibikā, a palanquin or litter, the covered chair carried on poles in which royalty and brides travelled; it also lists a bier, a weapon of Kubera, and a raised stage for performances. We could not find the "belongs to Shiva" sense in the dictionaries, so it appears to be a modern meaning that families attach to the name because of its sound.
