Shilpa meaning
Shilpa (शिल्पा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Art, decoration, artistic work; skill in any craft; form, shape
Also used to mean: sculpture
Shilpa (शिल्पा) comes from Sanskrit śilpa, the old word for art and craft. Monier-Williams gives it as "the art of variegating", "decoration, ornament, artistic work", any of the manual arts and crafts, among them carpentry, architecture and music, and "skill in any art or craft"; it can also mean "form, shape". The classical Indian treatises on architecture, sculpture and the other crafts are known as the Shilpa Shastras. Indian name lists give Shilpa as "art" or "sculpture", close to the dictionary's sense of a well-made work of art. The dictionary's own feminine form, śilpā, is a minor and unrelated word.
