Mrittika meaning
Mrittika (मृत्तिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
Earth, clay, soil
Mrittika (মৃত্তিকা, मृत्तिका) is the Sanskrit word for earth or clay. Monier-Williams gives mṛttikā as earth, clay or loam, with references going back to the Yajurveda, and adds a kind of fragrant earth among its later senses. The word lives on in Bengali, where it is the literary word for soil. Bengali families use Mrittika as a girl's name for its link with the earth and the land, in the same spirit as names such as Bhumi and Dharitri. It is pronounced MRIT-ti-kaa.
