Mrignayani meaning
Mrignayani (मृगनयनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A fawn-eyed woman
Mrignayani (मृगनयनी) joins Sanskrit mṛga, "deer", and nayana, "eye": a woman with the large, gentle eyes of a fawn, a classic image of beauty in Indian poetry. Monier-Williams records mṛganayanā as "a fawn-eyed woman"; the name uses the more familiar ending -ī. The best-known bearer is Mrignayani, the Gujar queen of Raja Man Singh Tomar of Gwalior in the late fifteenth century, for whom the Gujari Mahal was built. Her story is told in Vrindavan Lal Verma's Hindi novel Mrignayani (1950).
