Bhanumati meaning
Bhanumati (भानुमती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, भा, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Mula nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Feminine of bhānumat, luminous, splendid, beautiful; a name of epic women
Also used to mean: sun-rayed, bright
Bhanumati (भानुमती) is the feminine of Sanskrit bhānumat, "full of light", from bhānu, "light, the sun". Monier-Williams gives bhānumat as "luminous, splendid, beautiful", a word used since the Rigveda, and records Bhānumatī as the name of several women in the epics and Puranas, among them a daughter of the Yadava prince Bhanu. In popular retellings of the Mahabharata Bhanumati is Duryodhana's wife. The Hindi saying "Bhanumati ne kunba joda" pokes fun at a household put together from odds and ends. P. Bhanumathi was a celebrated Telugu actress, singer and director.
