Deepika meaning
Deepika (दीपिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A light, lamp; moonlight
Deepika (दीपिका) is Sanskrit dīpikā, which Monier-Williams glosses as "a light, lamp, lantern" and also as "moonlight". It is closely related to dīpaka, the word behind the name Deepak. In Sanskrit literature dīpikā was a favourite way to end a book title, where it means an illustration or commentary that throws light on a difficult text, and the dictionary also lists it as the name of a rāgiṇī, a melody in Indian classical music. Baby-name lists agree on "light" or "lamp", so the everyday meaning matches the dictionary. The name is also spelt Dipika. Its best-known bearer today is the actor Deepika Padukone, one of the leading stars of Hindi cinema.
