Chhavi meaning
Chhavi (छवि) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, छ, it is a Mithun rashi name (Ardra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Complexion; beauty, splendour; a ray of light
Also used to mean: image, radiance
Chhavi (छवि) is the Sanskrit chavi, a feminine noun. Monier-Williams' senses run from "skin" and "the colour of the skin, complexion" to "beauty, splendour" and "a ray of light". In modern Hindi the word has widened: McGregor's dictionary gives beauty, grace and charm, brilliance, lustre and splendour, and also "image, picture". That is why Indian name lists give Chhavi as "image" or "reflection" as well as "radiance". The image sense is a Hindi development, while radiance and beauty go back to Sanskrit. The doubled h in the English spelling marks the aspirated sound छ, which differs from the plain च of names such as Charu.
