Dnyaneshwari meaning
Dnyaneshwari (ज्ञानेश्वरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage).
Mistress of knowledge (jñāna + īśvarī); the Marathi Gita commentary of Dnyaneshwar
Also used to mean: goddess of knowledge, one who possesses knowledge
Dnyaneshwari (ज्ञानेश्वरी) joins Sanskrit jñāna, which Monier-Williams gives as knowledge and especially higher, spiritual knowledge, with īśvarī, the feminine of īśvara, "lord, master" or "mistress, queen". Together they mean "mistress of knowledge", and name lists give "goddess of knowledge". In Maharashtra the name also honours the Jñāneśvarī, the Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad Gita composed in 1290 by the poet-saint Dnyaneshwar, one of the founding works of Marathi literature. The spelling with Dny- reflects the Marathi pronunciation of ज्ञ.
