Pratibha meaning
Pratibha (प्रतिभा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Intelligence, genius, presence of mind; light, splendour
Also used to mean: talent
Pratibha (प्रतिभा) comes from prati-bhā, "to shine upon, to flash on the mind". Monier-Williams gives it as an image and as light or splendour, and above all as intelligence, understanding, presence of mind, genius and wit, a sudden thought and the power of imagination; Sanskrit critics used it for the poet's creative gift. In Hindi it is the everyday word for talent. Name lists give "talent", "genius" or "intelligence", all in the dictionary. A well-known bearer is Pratibha Patil, who in 2007 became the first woman President of India.
