Samatha meaning
Samatha (समता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Equality, sameness; fairness, impartiality; equanimity; benevolence
Also used to mean: calm
Samatha (समता) is the Sanskrit samatā, from sama, "same, even". Monier-Williams gives the senses sameness of level, equality, fairness or impartiality, a normal balanced condition, equanimity and benevolence. Name lists give "equality" or "calm"; the first is the dictionary sense, and "calm" fits equanimity, though it is also the meaning of the unrelated Buddhist term samatha, "tranquillity". The name is chiefly Telugu, written సమత, where -tha spells the sound of त; in Hindi the word is samtā.
