Lalita meaning
Lalita (ललिता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Charming, graceful, playful; a name of Durga
Also used to mean: beautiful
Lalita (ललिता) comes from Sanskrit lalita, which Monier-Williams glosses as playful, artless, soft, gentle and charming, and as a noun grace and charm. The feminine lalitā is a name of Durgā or a particular form of her, and of a Gopī identified with Durgā and Rādhikā; it is also the name of a musical rāga and of several metres. The goddess Lalitā is praised in the Lalita Sahasranama, a hymn of a thousand names. Name lists today give beautiful, charming or graceful, all close to the dictionary. Lalitha is the usual South Indian spelling.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
