Ritvika meaning
Ritvika (ऋत्विका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (modern).
Priestess (a feminine formed from ṛtvij, "priest")
Also used to mean: one who performs sacred rites
Ritvika (ऋत्विका) is a modern feminine name built on Sanskrit ṛtvij, which Monier-Williams defines as sacrificing at the proper time and, as a noun, a priest. Vedic ritual named four chief priests of this kind, the Hotṛ, Adhvaryu, Brahman and Udgātṛ, each with three helpers. Name lists give Ritvika as "priestess" or "one who performs sacred rites", which follows from the masculine. The dictionary has no feminine form, so the name is a later formation, a counterpart of the boys' name Ritvik. Rithvika and Ritwika are other spellings.
