Dhyana meaning
Dhyana (ध्याना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Meditation, thought, reflection, especially deep religious meditation
Also used to mean: contemplation
Dhyana (ध्याना) comes from Sanskrit dhyāna, from the verb dhyai, "to contemplate". Monier-Williams gives dhyāna as meditation, thought and reflection, especially deep religious meditation, and also as holding a deity's form in the mind, which is why the verses describing a god's appearance are called dhyāna-ślokas. In Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras dhyāna is the seventh of the eight limbs of yoga, and through Chinese chan it gave Japanese Buddhism the word zen. Name lists give "meditation" or "contemplation", which matches the dictionary.
