Geya meaning
Geya (गेया) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, गे, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Dhanishta nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
To be sung; a song
Geya (गेया) comes from Sanskrit geya, from the verb root gai, "to sing". Monier-Williams gives it as an adjective, "to be sung, being sung or praised in song", and as a neuter noun, "a song, singing", citing the Mahābhārata, the Rāmāyaṇa and Kālidāsa's Meghadūta. The dictionary records the word, not a personal name; the form with a final long ā, गेया, is the usual spelling of the girl's name, while the dictionary word is गेय. Baby-name lists give "song", which matches the dictionary. Geya is a modern given name from the same root as Geeta and Geetika.
