Pratima meaning
Pratima (प्रतिमा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Image, likeness; a statue or idol; a reflection
Pratima (प्रतिमा) comes from prati-mā, "to copy, to imitate", and means a likeness. Monier-Williams gives an image, likeness or symbol, already in the Rigveda, and a picture, statue or idol, the sense in which pratimā names the consecrated images in Indian temples; after a word for the moon it means its reflection. Name lists give "image", "likeness" or "idol", in line with the dictionary. The name is used across India; Protima is the Bengali spelling and Prathima the South Indian one.
