Kavya meaning
Kavya (काव्या) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, का, it is a Mithun rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A poem; wisdom, poetic inspiration; (kāvyā) intelligence
Kavya (काव्या) comes from Sanskrit kāvya, from kavi, a poet or inspired sage. Monier-Williams gives it first as an adjective, endowed with the qualities of a sage or poet, prophetic, inspired; as a noun it means wisdom, prophetic inspiration and 'high power and art', and also a poem, especially a composed poem with a coherent plot by a single author. The feminine kāvyā is glossed 'intelligence'. Kāvya is also the name of the tradition of ornate Sanskrit court poetry whose masters include Aśvaghoṣa and Kālidāsa. In older texts Kāvya is a patronymic of the sage Uśanas, linked with the planet Śukra. Kaavya is an alternative spelling.
