Navika meaning
Navika (नविका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
New, fresh (from nava, "new, young")
Also used to mean: sailor
Navika (नविका) is best explained from Sanskrit nava, "new", which Monier-Williams gives as new, fresh, recent, young and modern, the opposite of old. Adding the feminine suffix -ikā makes a girl's name of it. Monier-Williams does list a word navikā, but only as an entry from the old lexicons meaning "containing the word nava", so it adds nothing to the meaning. Name lists give both "new" and "sailor". The second belongs to a different word, nāvika, with a long ā, which means a helmsman, pilot or sailor and comes from nau, "boat". As the name is written, "new" is the better fit.
