Shanmugapriya meaning
Shanmugapriya (சண்முகப்பிரியா) is a Tamil and Hindu girl's name.
Dear to Shanmukha (Murugan); also the name of a Carnatic raga
Also used to mean: dear to murugan
Shanmugapriya (சண்முகப்பிரியா) means 'dear to Shanmukha', the six-faced god better known in Tamil Nadu as Murugan. Monier-Williams gives ṣaṇmukha, 'having six faces', as a name of Skanda, and the Tamil Lexicon records the Tamil form caṇmukaṉ in the same sense; priyā is 'beloved' or 'dear'. Shanmukhapriya is also a major raga of Carnatic music, the 56th of the 72 parent scales, much loved in concerts for its devotional mood. The name suits families devoted to Murugan or to music, and is often shortened to Priya.
