Navpreet meaning
Navpreet (ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin (from Sanskrit), used for both girls and boys.
Nav (new) joined with prīt (love): new love
Navpreet (ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ) joins two Punjabi name elements. Nav, from Sanskrit nava, means new or fresh; the Mahan Kosh notes it can also mean nine, but in names it is read as new. Preet is prīti, love and delight, a word the Guru Granth Sahib uses often for love of God (for example Ang 82). Together the parts give "new love", which is also how name lists explain it. Navpreet is given to both girls and boys in Sikh families, with Kaur or Singh showing which, and is also spelt Navprit.
