Navendu meaning
Navendu (नवेन्दु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The new moon (nava + indu)
Navendu (नवेन्दु) joins Sanskrit nava, "new, fresh, young", with indu, the moon. Monier-Williams records indu first as a drop, especially of Soma, and then as the moon, the sense it keeps in later Sanskrit and in the name Indu. Together the parts mean "the new moon", the thin crescent seen in the first evenings after the moonless night of amavasya. Name lists give "new moon", which fits the parts. In Bengal the name is pronounced and written Nabendu.
