Shreyas meaning
Shreyas (श्रेयस) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Better, excellent; welfare, good fortune, bliss
Shreyas (श्रेयस) is the Sanskrit śreyas, "better" or "more excellent". Monier-Williams gives it as an adjective meaning superior, distinguished, auspicious and conducive to welfare. As a noun it means the good as opposed to evil, welfare, fortune and happiness, and in the highest sense the bliss of final liberation; for this the dictionary cites the Kaṭha Upaniṣad and the Mahabharata. In Jain tradition MW records Śreyas as the name of the eleventh Arhat of the present age. Indian name lists give Shreyas as excellent, superior or prosperous, which stays close to the dictionary, though the word's deeper sense is lasting good rather than simple success.
