Inderpreet meaning
Inderpreet (ਇੰਦਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin (from Sanskrit), used for both girls and boys.
Inder (Indra, king of the gods) joined with prīti (love)
Also used to mean: love of God
Inderpreet (ਇੰਦਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ) combines inder, the Punjabi form of Indra, with prīt, love. Monier-Williams describes Indra as the Vedic god of the sky and rain and king of the gods, and notes that Vedānta identifies him with the supreme being; at the end of compounds the word also means "chief" or "best". In the Guru Granth Sahib Indra, seated on his throne, is among those who sing the Creator's praises (Ang 8). Prīt, from Sanskrit prīti, is love or affection. Name lists give Inderpreet as "love of Indra" or simply "love of God". The full name is a modern compound, given to both boys and girls; the related Inderjeet is also a Punjabi name.
