Inderjeet meaning
Inderjeet (ਇੰਦਰਜੀਤ) is a Sikh and Hindu unisex name of Sanskrit origin, used for both girls and boys.
Conqueror of Indra; name of Ravana's son Meghnad
Inderjeet (ਇੰਦਰਜੀਤ) is the Punjabi form of Sanskrit indrajit, 'conqueror of Indra', from Indra, king of the gods, and -jit, 'conquering'. Its best-known bearer is Indrajit, also called Meghanāda, the son of Rāvaṇa in the Rāmāyaṇa; the Mahan Kosh says he earned the title by defeating Indra in battle. Monier-Williams lists other bearers too, among them a Dānava in the Harivaṃśa and a king remembered as the protector of the poet Keśavadāsa. In Punjab the name is used in Sikh and Hindu families for boys and girls, usually with Singh or Kaur. Some name lists render it 'conqueror of the senses', as if from indriya, but neither dictionary supports that reading.
