Jaya meaning
Jaya (जया) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Victory; a name of the goddess Durga
Also used to mean: victorious
Jaya (जया) is the feminine form of Sanskrit jaya, a word for conquest, victory and triumph, used of winning in battle, at dice or in a lawsuit. Monier-Williams lists Jayā as a name of the goddess Durgā and of a daughter of Daksha who became the wife of Shiva, and also as the third, eighth or thirteenth day of each lunar fortnight. Baby-name lists give it simply as victory, which matches the dictionary. It is short and easy to say in every Indian language.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
