Anhad meaning
Anhad (ਅਨਹਦ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin, also used for girls.
Boundless; the unstruck celestial sound
Anhad (ਅਨਹਦ) is a word from Sikh scripture. The Mahan Kosh glosses it as "without limit, boundless" and links it with anahat (ਅਨਹਤ), "unstruck". The Sanskrit an-āhata, which Monier-Williams gives as "unbeaten" and "produced otherwise than by beating", lies behind that sense. In the Guru Granth Sahib anhad most often describes the unstruck sound, the anhad nād or anhad shabad: divine music made without striking any instrument and heard inwardly in deep meditation. Guru Nanak uses the word as early as Ang 21, and it recurs throughout the scripture. Name lists give Anhad as "limitless" or "unstruck sound", matching both senses. It is used mainly in Sikh families, mostly for boys.
