Santoshi meaning
Santoshi (संतोषी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Satisfied, contented, pleased
Also used to mean: goddess santoshi
Santoshi (संतोषी) is the feminine of Sanskrit saṃtoṣin, "satisfied, contented, pleased", from saṃtoṣa, "satisfaction, contentment". Monier-Williams notes that in the Purāṇas Saṃtoṣa is personified as a son of Dharma and Tuṣṭi. For most Indian families the name brings to mind Santoshi Mata, "the mother of satisfaction", a goddess worshipped especially by women in North India with Friday fasts. Her devotion spread widely after the 1975 Hindi film Jai Santoshi Maa. Name lists give Santoshi as "contented" or "satisfied", the dictionary meaning. The masculine form is Santosh.
