Sarita meaning
Sarita (सरिता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A river, stream; also a name of Durgā
Sarita (सरिता) comes from Sanskrit sarit, "a river, a stream", from the verb sṛ, "to flow". Monier-Williams quotes the epic phrase saritāṃ varā, "best of rivers", for the Gaṅgā, and gives saritāṃ pati, "lord of rivers", as a name for the ocean; the old lexicons also list Sarit as a name of the goddess Durgā. Saritā is the form the word takes in Hindi. Name lists give Sarita as "river" or "stream", the dictionary meaning. The name is used across India; in the South it is often spelled Saritha.
