Saraswati meaning
Saraswati (सरस्वती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The goddess of eloquence and learning; a sacred river; speech, learning, wisdom
Also used to mean: goddess of knowledge, possessing water
Saraswati (सरस्वती) is the Sanskrit sarasvatī, built from saras, "a pool, a lake", and a suffix meaning "possessing", so "abounding in pools or waters". Monier-Williams records it first as a river praised in the Rigveda and identified with a goddess, then as the goddess of eloquence and learning, sometimes called the daughter and also the wife of Brahmā, and as speech, eloquence, learning and wisdom themselves. Saraswati is worshipped as the patron of knowledge, music and the arts, especially at Vasant Panchami. Name lists give "goddess of knowledge" and "possessing water", both dictionary senses.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Saraswati.
