Varada meaning
Varada (वरदा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage).
Granting boons; a maiden; name of a goddess and of a river
Also used to mean: giver of boons, goddess lakshmi
Varada (वरदा) comes from Sanskrit varada, "granting wishes, conferring boons", made of vara, "a boon", and da, "giving". Monier-Williams records the feminine varadā as a young woman or maiden, the name of a guardian goddess, a Yoginī, a river and several plants. The varada-mudrā, the open downward palm of many Hindu images, is the gesture of granting boons. Name lists explain Varada as "giver of boons" and often link it to Lakshmi; the dictionary does not name Lakshmi. The name is especially used in Maharashtra.
