Sarojini meaning
Sarojini (सरोजिनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A pond full of lotuses; a multitude of lotuses
Also used to mean: pond of lotuses
Sarojini (सरोजिनी) is the Sanskrit sarojinī, the feminine of sarojin, "having lotuses", from saroja, "lotus". Monier-Williams gives it as a pond abounding in lotuses, or a multitude of lotuses, and notes that it is sometimes loosely taken to mean a single lotus flower. Name lists give both "lotus" and "pond of lotuses"; the second is the exact sense. The name's most famous bearer is Sarojini Naidu, the poet known as the Nightingale of India, who was a leader of the freedom movement and became the first woman to govern an Indian state.
