Kamala meaning
Kamala (कमला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A name of Lakshmi; wealth, prosperity
Also used to mean: lotus
Kamala (कमला) comes from Sanskrit kamala, the lotus, a word that also means pale red or rose-coloured. Monier-Williams gives the feminine kamalā first as a name of Lakshmi, the goddess who rises from a lotus, and then as wealth, prosperity and an excellent woman; in tantric tradition Kamalā is also one of the ten Mahāvidyās. Name lists give "lotus" and Lakshmi, both supported by the dictionary. In Hindi it is often written and said Kamla.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Lakshmi.
