Mayuri meaning
Mayuri (मयूरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A peahen
Mayuri (मयूरी) is the Sanskrit mayūrī, the peahen, the feminine of mayūra, "peacock", a word found from the Rigveda onwards. The peacock is India's national bird and the mount of Kartikeya, and its dance in the monsoon is a favourite image in Indian poetry and painting. Monier-Williams also records the closely related māyūrī as the name of a musical rāgiṇī. Name lists give peahen, matching the dictionary. Mayuri is used in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka, and is the girls' counterpart of Mayur.
