Heena meaning
Heena (हिना) is a Hindu and Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (via Hindi and Urdu).
Henna, the plant Lawsonia inermis and its red dye
Heena (हिना) is the word for henna, the plant Lawsonia inermis, whose powdered leaves give the reddish dye that Indian brides wear on their hands and feet. Platts' Hindustani dictionary records it as ḥinnā or ḥinā, from Arabic, together with ḥinnā-bandī, the henna ceremony held before a wedding. The everyday Hindi word for the same plant is mehndī. The name is used by both Hindu and Muslim families, and name lists give it simply as "henna". The spelling Heena is used in Hindu families, and Hina among Muslims.
