Mahlaqa meaning
Mahlaqa (ماہ لقا) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin (Urdu usage).
With a countenance bright as the moon; moon-faced
Mahlaqa (ماہ لقا) is the Persian māh-liqā, joining māh, "moon", to liqā, which in Persian means "face" or "countenance". Steingass's dictionary defines it as having a countenance bright as the moon, one of the many moon compounds of Persian love poetry. The name is closely tied to Hyderabad: Mah Laqa Bai "Chanda" (1768–1824), poet and patron at the Nizam's court, was the first woman to compile a full diwan of Urdu ghazals, published as Gulzar-e-Mahlaqa. Name lists give Mahlaqa as "moon-faced", matching the dictionary.
