Mahua meaning
Mahua (महुआ) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
The mahua or butter-tree, its flower or seed
Also used to mean: a flowering tree
Mahua (महुआ) is the name of the mahua tree, Madhuca longifolia, which Bengalis also call mohua. The Samsad Bengali dictionary describes it as a butter-tree and its seed or flower, and lists mahua honey and mahua butter among its products. The word comes from Sanskrit madhūka, which Monier-Williams gives for the same tree, whose fleshy, sweet-scented flowers are eaten and distilled, and also for a bee; both senses go back to madhu, "honey, sweet". The tree is dear to the forest communities of eastern India. The politician Mahua Moitra is a well-known bearer.
