Madhavi meaning
Madhavi (माधवी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, मा, it is a Simha rashi name (Magha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A spring-flowering creeper; the earth; a name of Durga
Also used to mean: of springtime, Lakshmi, sweet
Madhavi (माधवी) is the feminine of Sanskrit mādhava, "of the spring" and "descended from Madhu", a name of Krishna. Monier-Williams lists mādhavī as the earth, a spring-flowering creeper, sacred basil and honey-sugar, and as a name of Durgā, of a daughter of King Yayāti, and of women of the Yadu line such as Kuntī. Name lists give springtime, sweet or Lakshmi, the last from the idea of the consort of Mādhava. In the Tamil epic Silappatikaram, Madhavi is the celebrated dancer of Puhar. Madhvi is a shorter spelling.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
