Kheya meaning
Kheya (खेया) is a Hindu girl's name of Bengali origin. By its first sound, खे, it is a Makar rashi name (Shravana nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A ferry-boat; a ferry; the act of ferrying
Kheya (खेया) is a Bengali word for a ferry: the Samsad dictionary gives it as a ferry-boat, a ferry, or the act of ferrying people across a river. In a land of wide rivers the ferry crossing is part of daily life and of poetry, and Rabindranath Tagore chose Kheya as the title of his 1906 collection of poems about the crossing from one shore of life to the other. The name is short, soft and distinctly Bengali. It should not be confused with Keya, the fragrant screw-pine flower.
