Paavani meaning
Paavani (पावनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, पा, it is a Kanya rashi name (Uttara Phalguni nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Pure, holy (feminine); a name of the Ganges; holy basil
Paavani (पावनी) is Sanskrit pāvanī, the feminine of pāvana, "purifying", "pure" or "holy", from the root pū, "to purify". As a feminine noun Monier-Williams lists it as holy basil, tulasī, and as the name of a river, and, following Wilson's dictionary, as a name of the goddess Gaṅgā, the river whose waters are held to purify. Name lists give Paavani as "pure", "holy" or "sacred", and some as a name of the Ganga, in line with the dictionary. The masculine counterpart is Paavan, and in Hindi the adjective pāvan is still the everyday word for something sacred.
